Another year ticking by

YAY!!!!  School holidays and YAY!!! long weekends.

I must say it's one of the major perks of being a teacher and it's certainly appreciated as we get to unwind and rejuvenate for the upcoming term.

Did I mention I love school holidays??  It gives me a chance to;

  • put routine to the side and enjoy my family
  • catch up with friends for lunch and dinner dates
  • exercise when it's light instead of that ungodly 5am time
  • plough through my huge 'to do' list
and being the good teacher that I am;

  • prepare and plan some work for my last term of 2013.
During the week I'd noticed some knee pain, mostly around my knee cap.  I knew it wasn't the pain of a meniscus tear but seeing as I am now running quite a few kms, thought I'd better get it checked out.  Took myself off to the physio, feeling quite apprehensive that she was going to tell me to stop running ................ NO!!!  I've found something I love, even though I whine about it :)

Diagnosis is that my knee cap seems to be misaligned, so some deep massage, taping and exercises to improve my glutes.  She suggested I give lunges and squats a miss and take it easy on my runs.

I decided to give Wednesday (physio day) a miss from running and did my running on Thursday morning.  This was week 8, which is mini milestone week - time trial week ............... oh oh.  The last few time trials I've hovered around the 5.35 min km, really struggling to get any better.

Look what I did, one very proud runner and one very stuffed runner!!!  Maybe, just maybe a sub 5 min km is possible????  Who knows ............ never say never.

And I'm even more impressed with my measurements.  At the beginning of the round  wanted to get my waist measurement to less than 80cm, as that is considered a healthy measurement.  Whew, it' now sitting at 81.5cm - getting close.

My birthday is coming up on Tuesday this week and I must say I'm feeling 10 years younger than I did at this time last year.  I booked my 3 kids in for a family morning and we all did the Bondi - Bronte Coastal Walk.  It's a 6.5km round trip, lots of stairs and gorgeous scenery.  At Bronte we had a yummy brunch at Bogey Hole Café - yummy coffee + delicious food = winning.

I love this photo of myself and my two girl and am even starting to think I look ok in photos now.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

How true is that statement????  I've taken loads of photos throughout my journey and am so glad I have.  Probably more photos in the last year than in the last 20 years.  I found a comparison of when Miss Brittles and I went for a New Years Day coastal walk from Dover Heights to Watsons Bay and return.  I'd lost about 10kg and have since lost a further 20+ kilos and my oh my it's so evident.

Have a good week everyone.  Train hard, eat clean!!! xxxx

  1. What a fantastic difference in the two photographs. It's comparisons like this that really spur a person on. You must be such an inspiration and role model to your girls. As for your time trial ~~faints~~ :-)
