I'm so excited and on such a high after completing the Triathlon Pink at Parramatta on Sunday 16th March.
I'm feeling so fit, so empowered and proud of myself. I was extremely nervous on Saturday night, even to the extent of having an upset stomach. Do you know what I was worried about??? I was worried about the 3km run!!!! Silly me, I ran 17km in one go the weekend before.
I had goals for Sunday;
I wanted to finish under 1 hour 5 mins.
My swim leg (300m) I wanted to complete in less than 10 mins.
Cycle leg (9km) I wanted to complete in less than 30 mins and finally,
the run leg (3km), I wanted to complete in less than 20 mins.
It was great to meet up with the Run Club ladies on Sunday morning, the weather was beautiful and Garry had loaned me his new bike. All ready to go, in my tri suit, which was a bit scary because I'm not the slimmest person out.
Yes, there'll be a next time. :)
I loved the cycle leg, I find it easier than running, and it's easier on the joints.
Riding a new bike made such a difference - my goal was smashed!!!!
20.43 - can you believe that, nearly 10 minutes less than my goal time.
and finally the run leg!!!!
This was tough - 3 times out and back. I was breathing really hard after the cycle and felt like I was running slowly at about an 8km pace. The support was great from Run Clubbers, certainly picked me up.
My surprise was overwhelming when I checked the results and my run was 19.03.
I made my goal!!!!
oh, did I tell you, I raised $585 for the McGrath Foundation. Feeling pretty good about that.
I love this pic (below). I'm so happy and I look like a runner!!!
Until next time xxxxx
Love the photos, especially that one at the end and the one of you on the bike. A triathlete for sure. I have the utmost admiration, being that I can't swim. Go you. No goal is too much for you, you have a strength and determination and you will achieve whatever you set out to do, of that I'm sure.
