I am doing it!!!!
I'm stepping up to the challenge and was able to make some tiny step successes this morning. (ps, this sentence doesn't sound grammatically correct - can't take the teacher out of me)
As you will know I've been training for a triathlon, yes, it's only a short enticer triathlon but it's a big challenge for me. I've been struggling with the swimming, but as of this morning I can see that I will be accomplishing the swim leg, fingers crossed without stopping.
I started swimming in early January struggling to finish 25m at Stanhope Gardens. Each lap was a rest with me gasping for air. About two weeks ago I decided to move venues to Waves Fitness Centre where they have a 50m pool and train there. I will be in a 50m pool so wanted to train the distance I would be swimming on the day.
Different distance of pool = same result, able to swim all the way but needing to stop and breathe very deeply at the end of every length.
On Monday morning I was able to make a conscious effort to swim 2 lengths (100m) without stopping, it was hard but it was doable and I did it!!!!
This morning at 5.30am I was there and hadn't really thought about my swimming until I got in the pool. Decided to set myself a goal - 3 x 100m swims and blow me away .............. I did it, with some breastroke at the end .............. whew.
I now know that in 10 days time I will give it my best shot to swim the 300m without stopping. That will be my challenge twice next week.
sssshhh I have a really big exercise weekend coming up, can't say too much yet, except I'm very excited and very scared (but excited scared).
