The power of the world wide web!!!
Sometimes things happen, you don't know the person, you live nowhere near them, but the actions effect you.
Last week I read on a favourite facebook page of mine, 'Running the World', about a young Mum of three who was out running and hit and killed by a drunk driver. This happened in the USA, along way away from Australia. But it's something that could and unfortunately does happen anywhere in the world.
It got me thinking about how quickly a family's life is turned upside down.
Through facebook, an event was set up, called, 'Miles for Meg', where on Saturday we were encouraged to run and log our distance, think about this innocent woman who's life was taken from her.
I ran today, out of my comfort zone. I'm currently on holiday in rural Qld and had to drive 50km to somewhere safe for me to run. It was a beautiful summer morning and I certainly appreciate my health and my family. 11km is long distance for me but any muscle soreness is nothing!!!!
So Meg, I dedicate 11km (ps, my Garmin said 11km ) to you.
Then this afternoon I found this blog post and it bought me to tears :( It made me realise just how important we are to our families, not just individually but as a unit.
If I die on Monday
Be safe and enjoy your running :)
Although a sad post, it is also a very positive one. It just goes to show how quickly a person's fortunes can change.
ReplyDeleteWell done for dedicating your run and your thoughts to her today.
Nice post Sue.

Donna
Goodness, that blog post is amazing. Yes life can change in the blink of an eye, I see that every day at work, but it always happens to "someone else". Hmmm, it does bear thinking about doesn't it. I must admit around here we don't have many footpaths and so I have to run on the road, albeit the verge of the road in the gravel. I'm mindful though of keeping myself visible (reflective strips, etc.) but it still doesn't count for the nutters out there. Great blog post Sue, makes a person think. And fantastic run! Stay safe.
